The tree

My girls generally just follow me around like this and hover below my feet, wanting to be carried and look at the world from a perch of 5 foot 3 inches (and a half?). The ladder was too much.

Making ornaments:

Jared handles the crafts at our house. Crafts make me mad. I can never do it right.

Making pasta garland

The kids "helping out."

Eating dry pasta.

Putting the (home-made) star on top:

Your tree is so lovely! That makes me want to redecorate mine with homemade ornaments! Merry Christmas.

love it. My kids think that you're supposed to put all your toys on the tree. I'm continually taking off mutant ninjas, scoobies and barbie stuff. Fun isn't it.

So Cyra told me in nursery that you got your tree and she motioned with her little arms reaching to the sky saying "its HUGE! THIS BIG!!" I told her my tree was big too, but Scott carried our tree home with one hand and we definitely didn't need a ladder- she wins! Its beautiful though- what a fun night! (P.S.-i hate crafts too- never make them right) Hope you guys have a Merry Christmas!

The crafts look great. Nice work, Jared. And nice work, Mehrsa, for fancy photography work that makes that tree look like it could be a contender for Rockefeller. I think photography is a craft that you do well.

So fun that Kian and Darian are back! I bet Cyra's so happy. The tree looks great. Very tasteful.

I love your tree, and I bet it looks fabulous from the sidewalk. You should take a picture of it from across the street so we can get the passerby effect. I'll have to post a picture of our tree, which is definitely the 'living-on-graduate-school-loans' version of a Christmas tree. Let's just say that one strand of lights did the job. But it is a tree, nonetheless, and it is decorated and Ruby loves it.

She was a little puzzled to see Cyra wearing the exact same shirt that she has, the blue striped one. But after a short explanation of mass production of goods in Malaysian sweat shops she totally got it.

The tree looks great. I love the two feet on the bottom that is a little bare...looks like my tree with my two year old!

What a beautiful tree! And the girls look so tiny next to it. Love the obama shirt too. Do you have an obama ornament? I'm sure someone is making them!

We do have an Obama ornament actually. Jared made one. I should take a picture of it.

Also, we only got a huge tree because it was one of the cheapest on the lot--probably because it's going to automatically combust on us.

We Bybee men must be trying to make up for the small trees we used to cut down from the Reedley tree farm. Do you remember the first one we got after Irene and I were married? I got it on the cheap too cause it was huge...took the top 8 ft of a 12-15 foot tree and couldn't figure out how to get it out of the apartment until mid February. Ended up popping out the 3rd story kitchen window and pitching it to the street below. Good times. ;)
